(KRON) — A small pharmacy in Orinda has been hit by burglars four times within the past four months, according to the owners.
The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy at 282 Village Square has been serving local patients for two decades. “The past 4 months have been a nightmare for us,” the shop’s owner, Naomi Yuen, wrote on GoFundMe.
Masked burglars targeted the pharmacy in April, May, July, and August following a similar M.O. They arrived around 3 a.m. in stolen vehicles. With their faces concealed by hoods and masks, they broke through the front door to steal medications and cash, Yuen wrote.
The thieves have not been caught by police despite the pharmacy’s surveillance cameras, alarm system, and other added security measures, Yuen wrote.
Even after the pharmacy stopped stocking schedule II medications, people broke in again this month and grabbed cash out of the register, according to Yuen.
“We are the only independent pharmacy in the Lamorinda area and we hope we can stay open so we can continue to serve this community,” Yuen wrote.
