Police detained two juveniles early Saturday after they evaded an attempted traffic stop and crashed into perimeter fencing around Naval Base San Diego.
A National City police officer spotted a car speeding on Main Street around 3 a.m. and attempted to pull the driver over, according to OnScene.TV. The driver, though, fled and while trying to turn from southbound Main onto Yama Street, lost a tire.
The driver lost control at the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp and crashed through the base fencing and into a drainage ditch.
Rescuers pulled a male and a female from the wreckage. Neither was injured. Authorities released the girl to a parent and the male to his father, but he will face charges.
